History

American Legion Huron Valley Post 231 was granted its Charter on May 12th, 1933. The members of the post, at that time conducted their legion meetings in various members’ homes, since they did not have a post to carry out their legion activities. Then some years later the post members constructed a post that was located on Savage Road in New Boston, Michigan.

Post 231 maintained its membership at the Savage Road location until it relocated to its present location at 37060 Huron River Drive, New Boston. The relocation took place on October 19th, 1995. This site was originally the location of the New Boston Post Office.

The membership of Post 231 was and still is made up of Legion and Auxiliary members. The post Auxiliary was granted their charter a few years later and has been a dedicated unit within post 231 ever since.

American Legion Post 231 has been home to Legion and Auxiliary members that have served and supported all veterans and their families from all wars and conflicts since World War 1.

This post is currently made up of 51 Legion, 17 Auxiliary, and 11 Sons of the Legion Members. The post members continue to be a dedicated and patriotic group with a long and prestigious history, with a mission to uphold and defend the Constitution of the United States of America.
